Alpha for Prisons

In the past three years, St. Andrews has run five Alpha Courses, giving a wide range of people from inside and outside the church an introduction to the Christian faith.  Alpha is an effective tool for discipleship and evangelism and has had a transformative effect on countless people around the globe (well over 30 million people have completed an Alpha Course).  One of the contexts that Alpha has proved most impactful is in prisons.  There are three prisons within 20 minutes of Springfield and we are keen to explore the possibility of running Alpha in one of them.

Riverlife Baptist, a large well-resourced church, is currently running Alpha in the Juvenile Detention Centre at Wacol.  There is a possibility that members of St. Andrews could join that team.  This would give our people valuable prison ministry experience and build momentum for a course of our own in one of the other prisons.

For those who are interested, there is an afternoon meeting on Sunday 19th January at Riverlife Baptist Church at Seventeen Mile Rocks.  If you would like to attend, please put your name on the form on the welcome desk or contact Rev. Charlie for more details.  This meeting is for information only, so at this stage your attendance would simply be an expression of interest.
