The Anglican church baptises adults and children, who know and love Jesus and intend to live a life of committed discipleship; as well as infants, whose sponsors are professing Christians and who promise to raise the child, within the ‘body of Christ’ – the Church.

Baptism involves the candidate (the person being baptised), or their sponsors, making promises about their future life as members of God’s family. The Church will also promise to support and uphold the candidates in their Christian life.

The water of Baptism represents our being washed clean from the stain of sin (all our wrongdoing), and beginning a new life with Jesus.  It is a serious commitment and one that should only be undertaken after serious reflection as to why baptism is important.  For that reason, we ask our baptism candidates to be regular attendees of our Sunday service and to undertake a short baptism preparation course.

Baptism is not the culmination of the Christian life, but the beginning. The baptism service is a time of great joy and celebration as we officially welcome new members into the Christian family.
