ASH WEDNESDAY SERVICE
The season of Lent is a period of 40 days (not including Sundays), which begins on Ash Wednesday and takes us right through to Easter Sunday. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent and is a time to confront the reality of sin and death. It is a solemn time, but also terendously hopeful, as we turn to Christ in repentence and faith. The sign of the cross marked with ash on our foreheads reminds us of our mortality, as well as the efficacy of the cross in saving us from death's grasp.
Beginning Lent well will set the tone for this most important of seasons and help prepare our hearts for the wonderful message of Easter.
